Job Description Summary:
The Rooms Controller will be responsible for allotting rooms to guests based on their needs and preferences. S/he will have a complete understanding of all rooms types, events, and activities here at the resort. S/he will ensure guests are given elite experience and service while providing a fun and memorable experience.
Assist in room inventory and ensure reservations of required rooms for guests are completed
Use proper room blocking strategies in order to allot rooms to VIP and regular guests walking in unannounced
Pre-block rooms for special requests, packages, and VIPs
Handle special event booking as assigned by management
Coordinate with housekeeping and room reservation staff on a continuous basis to maintain accurate status of all guest rooms
Answer guest calls and inquiries in a professional manner
Provide guests information on services offered, types of rooms, and food served, etc.
Assist the front desk by checking guests in and out during peak arrival/departure hours
Assist guests in exchanging currencies, parking, and loading and unloading luggage
Perform checkout and cash handling activities in accordance with cashiering and credit policies
Maintain knowledge of hotel property, services, hours of operation, and surrounding areas (i.e. mall, restaurants)
Other duties as assigned
Experience and Education:
High school education or equivalent required
At least one year Front Office experience preferred
At least one year Hospitality experience preferred
Prior Rooms Controller experience preferred
At least one year of customer service experience required
Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to work well under pressure
Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written
Must be highly detailed orientated
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
Must have excellent listening skills
Must possesses excellent communication skills
Must be professional in appearance and demeanor
Must always ensure a teamwork environment
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays
Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the guests and associates
Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner
Must have a passion for creating an exceptional experience for all guests
Must be able to stand on feet throughout the shift, with intermittent periods of walking and stair climbing.
Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 25 lbs at shoulder height
Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs;
Must be able to bend, squat, push and pull frequently;
Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, squeezing, overhead reaching and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently.
