UTHealth Houston School of Public Healthinvites applicants to fill three multiple-rank tenure-track faculty positions at the San Antonio location. The faculty will report to the San Antonio Regional Dean and their respective Department Chair (Biostatistics and Data Sciences; Epidemiology; Environmental Safety and Occupational Science; Management, Policy, and Community Health; and Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences).

Position Key Accountabilities:

Responsibilitieswill include research, teaching, and community service. The successful applicants will develop and implement research related to population health, community health, or clinical health initiatives, and work collaboratively with UTHealth Houston School of Public Health colleagues. The applicants must demonstrate practical, applied expertise in analytic methods appropriate to enhancing research investigating psychosocial, behavioral, structural, or environmental factors associated with health outcomes as well as empirical research involving the design, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion interventions, including those related to occupational safety and health.

We encourage applicants with a broad array of skills and experience related to behavioral health, geriatric health and aging, substance use disorders, and/or military health. We also encourage experience with systems science for population health (e.g., machine learning, asocial network analysis, systems dynamics modeling, etc.), dissemination and implementation science, participatory-based research methods, quantitative methodologies, and analytic approaches to population research, innovative modeling techniques or the application of innovative alternative study designs appropriate for complex clinical and/or community-based studies.

Applicants for Associate Professor and above must demonstrate experience as an independent researcher with funded research studies, presentations at national and international conferences, and a record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications. Successful candidates will provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and post-doctoral students. Candidates will participate in classroom instruction and should be prepared to teach graduate-level classes. Teaching commitment will be agreed upon with the Department Chair and the Curriculum Coordinator in the Department.

Qualifications:

(1) a doctorate with some focus in public health, including psychology, psychiatry, sociology, health economics, social work, health services research, community health, organizational science, etc.);

(2) evidence of collaborative research supporting advances in population or community health, mental health, health promotion, military health, health services research, or public health policy;

3) strong potential for independent research funding or track record of established independent research funding including NIH-funded grants (e.g., K-series or R-series);

(4) commitment to excellence in teaching and advising graduate students; and

(5) excellence in written and oral communication skills. Multi-disciplinary training, with backgrounds that include computer or data sciences, statistics, law, engineering, occupational and environmental sciences, and other related disciplines will also be considered.
