Job Summary and Qualifications

Coordinator RN FT Days Pedi Cardiac CVICU

The Coord Cardiac Pediatrics primary function is to ensure the patient, staff and physicians have the informational and educational needs for the treatment plan.

Coord Cardiac Pediatrics achieve this goal by building relationships with patients and physicians, education, and/or representation within the multidisciplinary care environment.

The Coord Cardiac Pediatrics also assumes responsibility and accountability for the management of resources to achieve efficient, highquality outcomes for patients, including support with interdisciplinary and cross-facility coverage and collaboration.

The Coord Cardiac Pediatrics will serve as a liaison between the patient and family; all physicians involved in with patient’s care, internal and external healthcare providers, support network members, and the wider healthcare community.

This role will require collaboration with local physician liaisons and leadership to provide formal/informal staff education and to evaluate teaching effectiveness through feedback from staff and multidisciplinary team members.

Essential Job Function:

Assists leadership in the formulation and achievement of goals for the CICU Cardiac.

Works collaboratively and functions as an effective member of the health care team as well as a contact within the Methodist community.

Collaborate in preparing professional reports, articles and presentations for colleagues and professionals.

Contributes to the development and implementation of necessary changes in the program based on Q/I project result and is a stake-holder engagement for projects and quality initiatives within the inpatient realm.

Attends Tuesday and Thursday program conferences and is a representative voice for the clinical non-physician team and patient-care considerations.

Responsible for the integration and roll out of educational programs, including new employee orientation, preceptor support.

Guides clinical education, simulation and on-boarding for CICU RN’s and leads real time, on the spot simulations at the bedside.

May attend educational conferences, rounds, workshops and seminars; seeks out opportunities to share information gained with colleagues.

Responsible for leading an education team to support staff and to help roll out cardiac education initiatives including establishing roll out timelines, tracking and reporting on completions as well as assisting with auditing for compliance.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • Registered Nurse Texas State License or Compact State License required

  • Bachelors Degree Education: Bachelor’s degree nursing program

  • Experience: Minimum five years recent professional experience with pediatric cardiac critical care patients and families.

  • Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).
