Position Purpose:

The Personal Banker is responsible for performing a variety of financial services, including opening and closing accounts, renewing time deposit accounts, and assisting clients with account inquiries, maintenance, and problem resolution. The Personal Banker also collaborates with the Teller Supervisor to develop, train, and motivate lobby employees, helping them assist customers and effectively cross-sell bank products and services. This role requires a basic understanding of simple deposit and loan products and services, with an emphasis on identifying sales and referral opportunities to meet related goals.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

  1. Financial Service Functions:

    • Present and explain bank products and services to clients, helping meet their financial needs (e.g., opening, closing, and maintaining checking, savings, time deposit, and retirement accounts).
    • Assist with safe deposit boxes, savings bonds, credit cards, and basic consumer loans.
    • Answer client inquiries and resolve problems by collecting data and finding solutions.
    • Profile clients to identify sales opportunities and utilize lead lists to generate additional business.
  2. Client Relations:

    • Ensure professional, courteous, and prompt resolution of client questions and issues.
    • Process new accounts, changes to existing accounts, and other account maintenance tasks.
    • Protect client privacy and uphold the bank's professional reputation.
  3. Team Coordination and Reporting:

    • Support area personnel and inform management of activities and significant issues.
    • Complete reports accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Attend training and meetings as required, including weekday, evening, or Saturday sessions.
    • Oversee annual audits and special projects for the banking center (e.g., key box audit, safe deposit box key audit).
    • Ensure the accuracy of new account entries and logs, including supporting Treasury Management with new accounts and services.
  4. Sales and Service Responsibilities:

    • Actively and professionally promote the banks products and services to meet sales goals.
    • Maintain a clean, secure, and well-organized work area.
