State of Utah - Jobs State Water Plan Manager in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

 State Water Plan Manager * The Utah Division of Water Resources housed within the Department of Natural Resources is seeking an individual to lead the newly-created State Water Plan section. This dynamic role offers the exciting opportunity to shape the future of the state s water resources through the production of the State Water Plan. Producing this plan will require collaborating with agency and community leaders,facilitating impactful discussions on water management,and transforming complex data and concepts into clear and engaging insights for various audiences.   • Oversee and assist in the production of the State Water Plan (a guiding document that compiles years of data gathering,modeling and other collaborative efforts to identify when and where water will be needed throughout the state).
  • Research water resources topics and gather essential data and information to clearly and accurately communicate complex information for a general audience.
  • Coordinate outreach and engagement efforts with water agency leaders,agency representatives,key stakeholders and the general public.
  • Organize and manage tasks using project management tools provided (Smartsheet) and keep leadership appraised of progress through regular meetings and other means.
  • Coordinate the work of other division staff to ensure timely completion of modeling; accurate tables,charts and graphics; and other analysis.
  • Supervise the work of one employee in carrying out these responsibilities,develop a performance management plan and conduct and record quarterly performance evaluations.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Highly skilled in written and verbal communication.
  • Experienced with water resources planning projects.
  • Highly motivated to help effectively manage and preserve Utah s water resources.
  • Experienced with coordinating public involvement,including outreach and engagement of key stakeholders.
  • Familiar with water resources engineering principles and practices.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals.

     Preferences:

  • A bachelor s degree or higher in Engineering,Hydrology,Natural Resources,Environmental Science,Environmental Management,Planning,Public Administration,or a closely related field is preferred.

  • OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and paid professional employment directly related to the above tasks.

Work Location: This position may be eligible for an in-office or remote/hybrid work schedule after an initial training period during the first few months of employment. Our office is located 1594 West,North Temple,Salt Lake City,Utah. A position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.  Note: Under Administrative Rule R13-4 all work must be performed within the State of Utah.
