Job Summary

The University of Utah Campus Store is seeking an Assistant Starbucks Manager for the Starbucks located within the Campus Store. This position is responsible for supporting the Store Manager in daily operations, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards of store performance. The role involves managing staff, overseeing inventory, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and fostering a positive work environment. Under the direction of the Store Manager this position will supervise up to two Starbucks franchise locations at the University of Utah.

Responsibilities

Assist in the daily operations of the Starbucks location, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.

Maintain store cleanliness and organization.

Manage opening and closing procedures.

Ensure compliance with all Starbucks and University of Utah policies and procedures.

Provide exceptional customer service and resolve customer complaints in a professional manner.

Foster a welcoming atmosphere for students, faculty, and visitors.

Assist in hiring, training, and supervising baristas and other staff members.

Schedule shifts and manage time-off requests.

Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to staff.

Monitor inventory levels and place orders as needed.

Ensure proper storage and handling of all products.

Conduct regular stock checks and manage waste.

Assist in managing daily cash flow, including deposits and reconciliation.

Support the Store Manager in achieving sales targets and managing the budget.

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Conduct regular health and safety audits and staff training.

Assist in implementing marketing strategies to attract customers.

Organize and promote campus events and special offers.

Minimum Qualifications

Five years of experience in a related field, with two of those years working as a supervisor, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); knowledge of related trade or department specific equipment, systems and procedures. Demonstrated organizational, human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
