Job Summary

This position will be part of Utah Education and Telehealth Network ( UETN ) operations, responsible for administering the consortium software service. UETN is an operational unit of the University of Utah providing technology services, including software, to Utah K-12 schools, Universities, public libraries, and telehealth.

Participating institutions, UETN accounting, UETN leadership, and others rely on this position to manage relationships with multiple stakeholder groups seeking state-level software agreements for efficiency and cost savings. This position will also be responsible for cross-training and coordinating with other professionals supporting UETN’s consortium software service, such as procurement, legal, risk management, accounting, cybersecurity, accessibility, and data privacy.

Candidates for this position should demonstrate strong teamworking abilities, good organizational skills, a high level of attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. They should also have experience managing complex and important processes in a team setting.

Responsibilities

  1. Leads processes to identify software needs and qualifying products, manages consensus building and stakeholder relations in regard to educational software.

  2. Builds relationships with software providers. Understands the educational software marketplace, key trends and emerging technologies shaping the future of education.

  3. Administers procurement, customer care, and tracking of performance metrics. Manages budgets, licensing terms, and related data using cloud-based tools.

  4. Knows and guides others’ understanding of related cybersecurity, data privacy, accessibility, digital equity, risk management, procurement and legal issues. Will liaise with others at local, state and national peer organizations on these issues.

  5. Represents the organization with statewide committees, may travel in-state for meetings.

  6. Demonstrates diplomacy and attention to customer needs. Able to filter and prioritize multiple and sometimes competing requests.

  7. Routes payment, technical and onboarding issues to the appropriate provider.

  8. Generates letters of agreement and facilitates negotiations and contracts between counsel and participating entities. Supervises document retention and file management.

  9. Coordinates evaluation teams to translate expressed need to a formal procurement aligned to the educational software market, budgets, and overall portfolio of resources.

  10. Develops ways to streamline processes for accuracy and efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Education, Business, Communication or a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); four years of progressively more responsible related experience; and demonstrated human relation and effective communications skills required. A related Master’s degree preferred.

Preferences

Background knowledge of department’s area of specialization, demonstrated interpersonal, and analytical skills. Proficient with common workplace software applications and tools. Completion of additional training on University systems within six months of employment may be required. Experience with teleworking or hybrid working environments preferred. Ability to travel in-state with advance notice driving a state vehicle required.
