Utah State University SLCO 4-H/Youth Staff Assistant II - Salt Lake City USU Extension in Salt Lake City, Utah
USU Ext. - Salt Lake County 4-H is seeking a creative and positive person to work as a Staff Assistant II to USU Extension 4-H/youth staff. Hours will be Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm in the USU Extension Office in Salt Lake County. This is a full-time benefited position. Applicants should be able to work well independently and in a team. Some evening and weekend work may be necessary.
Assume standard office duties, including word processing, copying, scanning, editing, mailing, phone reception, email, taking meeting minutes, and spreadsheets.
Creative ideas are encouraged to continuously improve programming.
Assist USU Extension 4-H/Youth staff in the organization of programs.
Develop materials to promote supported community out-reach programming including: assisting staff in the development of educational materials, mailings, flyers, brochures, banners, and postcards.
Keeping website and social media up-to-date and accurate.
Handle communication with participants in 4-H/Youth programming through mail, flyers, advertisements, letters, emails, phone calls, social media and website. Answer general 4-H questions.
Produce reports and paperwork related to 4-H/Youth programming, including grants, by maintaining and organizing budgets, travel paperwork, receipts, purchasing and other required reporting and program evaluations.
Maintain 4-H enrollment and event registration through the 4-H Database, Zsuite.
Assist 4-H volunteers and public in checking out resources.
Assist 4-H Staff as needed.
Assist other front office staff as needed.
Two years of experience in an office setting or an associate degree/vocational training is required.
Self-motivated and able to accomplish a variety of tasks without direct supervision and able to adhere to deadlines.
Demonstrate professional work manner and ethic.
Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and oral.
Demonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to pay attention to detail.
Excellent computer skills and proficient knowledge of a variety of Microsoft programs such as word, excel, and other basic computer operations. Also, able to use or learn Adobe suites.
Must display exceptional human relation skills and be able to pleasantly interact with a variety of individuals.
Must be able to work effectively with supervisors, clientele, co-workers, volunteers, and professionals.
Some flexibility in work schedule required for occasional evening and Saturday events.
Offer contingent upon successful completion of background check.
Four years of work experience as an administrative assistant.
Motivated individual with a creative thought process.
Strong attention to detail and good eye for aesthetic work.
Strong editing skills desired.
Excellent budget tracking skills.
Strong worker with a positive personality.
Knowledge of cooperative extension services.
Ability to speak, understand, and write in Spanish.
Sense of humor and ability to keep things in perspective.
