Specific areas of interest include stem cell biology, tissue regeneration, and the tumor microenvironment, with a focus on modulating the response to and recovery from cancer therapies, including radiation and immunotherapies. A track record of research involving ionizing radiation or other cancer therapies is welcome but not mandatory, provided the candidate is willing to incorporate these areas into future investigations. Preference will be given to candidates who have conducted research with translational potential, such as utilizing specimens obtained from human patients or conducting studies using preclinical models with a clear path to eventual clinical testing.
The investigator’s scientific program will be housed within HCI , providing an opportunity to conduct collaborative work with clinician investigators in the Department of Radiation Oncology and the broader HCI community, and the University of Utah. HCI and the University Health Sciences Center provide access to state-of-the-art equipment and services through exceptional Core Facilities (seewww.cores.utah.eduandhttps://uofuhealth.utah.edu/huntsman/shared-resources), which enhance both discovery and translational science. HCI also features state-of-the-art laboratories, including a new 225,000 sq. ft. research building. For more information about HCI , visithttps://healthcare.utah.edu/huntsmancancerinstitute/.
