State of Utah - Jobs Project Manager (Engineering Manager I) in RICHFIELD, Utah

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is looking for a highly motivated person with excellent communication skills to work as a Project Manager (Engineering Manager I) in Region Four,with locations in Richfield,Price,Cedar City,or St. George,Utah. Principle Duties The UDOT Project Manager is responsible for:

  • Defining a project and developing a set of tasks to accomplish the project.
  • Ensuring that the project is customer focused,and the project scope,schedule and budget are not compromised.
  • Coordinating and monitoring the work involved in the tasks.
  • Delivering a final quality product on time and within prescribed cost constraints and project scope.
  • Developing,negotiating,and administering contracts.
  • Directing the project from the planning phase through design,construction,and the first year of maintenance.
  • Leading a team of diverse technical specialists.
  • Coordinating project issues through risk evaluation and timely communication with all parties involved.
  • Working with local governments on future developments and transportation needs.

The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will:

  • Be registered as a professional engineer (PE) in Utah.
  • Have at least two years of engineering experience following licensure as a Professional Engineer.
  • Have strong communication,facilitation,and organizational skills.
  • Be able to take the initiative on self-prioritized tasks with little to no direct supervision.

Preference may be given to applicants with roadway design experience. Underfill Option This position may be filled at the Engineer III level for applicants who do not meet the experience listed for an Engineering Manager I. To qualify at the Engineer III level,applicants must:

  • Be registered as a professional engineer (PE) in Utah.
  • Have at least one year of engineering experience following licensure as a Professional Engineer.

The salary range for an Engineer III is $36.55 - $59.29. Supplemental Information Here is some additional information of which you should be aware:

  • *Working Conditions:  *Risks found in the typical office setting,which is adequately lighted,heated and ventilated,e.g.,safe use of office equipment,avoiding trips and falls,observing fire regulations,etc.
  • Physical Requirements:  Typically,the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however,there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile,etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
  • Employee may be reassigned to a different location as deemed necessary by the Region Director / Group Leader.
  • Department of Human Resource Management rules regarding promotions and transfers apply to current state employees.
