Job Summary

The Wynne Laboratory in the Department of Internal Medicine, Nephrology & Hypertension is seeking to hire a Post Doc Res Assoc. We are looking for energetic and productive scientists able to work independently and as a team. Training for techniques will be provided, but some previous experience preferred. The candidate will also be expected to help maintain laboratory records and train/teach students. This position will include ordering and receiving supplies. We expect the candidate to be fully involved in the research, including analyzing and compiling datasets. The candidate would be expected to help perform a wide variety of experiments and in multiple projects all related to renal and cardiovascular physiology, immunology and hypertension. Our laboratory uses both cell culture and whole animal models, so it is important that the candidate have some flexibility; however, for this position primary duties will include mostly in vitro, imaging and molecular tools. We will be using basic molecular techniques including protein analysis (western blot) and RNA (RNAseq/RT- PCR ), cell sorting (using FACS / MACS ), immunofluorescence staining and imaging, and whole tissue clearing.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs laboratory tests and procedures using laboratory equipment.
  2. Confers with other laboratory personnel regarding the procedures and techniques to be followed in conducting research and recommends modification as needed.
  3. Makes statistical calculations, analyzes data, and prepares reports summarizing results.
  4. Monitors and assists with purchasing laboratory supplies and materials.
  5. Conducts literature reviews to obtain abstracts and information to be utilized in research.
  6. Training/overseeing of students in the laboratory
  7. Laboratory maintenance
