The laboratories of Jingtao Guo and Kenneth Aston are seeking a shared postdoctoral researcher with experience in molecular methods to explore the underlying genetic links between male infertility and increased comorbidities in that population. Prior experience with analysis and interpretation of transcriptional and genomic data is preferred. The candidate will lead the application and development of both cutting-edge molecular methods and computational methods to ongoing studies of germline and somatic mutation in human subjects. The ideal candidate will have obtained her/his Ph.D. (or equivalent) and have: a background in genetics, experience exploring modern DNA sequencing datasets. Experience with genomics data analysis is not required but encouraged. Applicants should have a passion for solving complex problems and value collaboration and teamwork while also being able to work independently. The candidate will be expected to take a leadership role in collaboration with other groups at the University of Utah and other institutions; participate in the training of graduate students; interact with software engineers within the group; publish their work in peer-reviewed journals; and present their work in national and international meetings. A high degree of organization and professionalism is required. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package for highly qualified candidates. This position is available immediately.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant and collaborative community of computational, clinical and experimental scientists within the Department of Surgery, Division of Urology. The Reproductive Biology group in the Division of Urology at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, Utah has long been a leader in basic and translational research in reproductive medicine. Our group lies at the interface between basic and clinical sciences, creating ample opportunities for collaborations with clinical researchers and easy access to high-valued clinical datasets.
