Job Summary

Postdoctoral Position in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Optical Imaging

The Aromolaran Lab at The Nora Eccles Harrison Cardiovascular Research and Training Institute ( CVRTI ), University of Utah is seeking a creative, energetic and motivated postdoctoral fellow to investigate the molecular mechanisms of cardiac remodeling associated with arrhythmias that are acquired in metabolic disorders (obesity, diabetes, and inflammation). We utilize heterologous expression systems (HEK293, CHO cells, and macrophage cell lines), and isolated cardiomyocytes. The position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in basic and translational research using state-of-the art approaches in cardiac electrophysiology, as well as other related approaches including flow cytometry, biochemistry, molecular biology and imaging. The environment at the CVRTI is highly interactive, collaborative, friendly and stimulating.

The successful candidate will be expected to hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. with experience (within 5 years of graduating) in cardiac electrophysiology, myocyte isolation, cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry and imaging. Expertise in patch clamp electrophysiology, molecular biology and optical imaging approaches is highly preferred. The candidate will be expected to possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, think critically, and work independently.
