The Department of Population Health Sciences at University of Utah Health is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship to work in shared decision making and risk communication, funded by an American Heart Association fellowship. The primary objectives focus on shared decision making in oral anticoagulation and atrial fibrillation with an emphasis on understanding and improving the health care communication and decisions made by both patients and clinicians. However, other related opportunities for research will be available.The Fellowship will train fellows for independent academic research careers. Fellows are expected to collaborate on established projects and are encouraged to conduct independent research with an emphasis on study inception, be productive manuscript writers, and apply for their own grants.A breadth of resources and collaborative support will enable fellows to build their own research programs. For interested candidates, there are opportunities to develop qualitative as well as quantitative and statistical expertise. Salary is competitive with excellent fringe benefits.The fellowship is led by Dr. Angela Fagerlin and Dr. Elissa Ozanne. The mentoring team has an exceptional track record of helping fellows obtain independent funding as principal investigators of NIH , PCORI , NSF , and VA awards.The Department of Population Health Sciences provides methodological expertise and infrastructure to advance capacity for impact-driven research and support clinical professionals in providing better patient and population-oriented care in an increasingly complex health care delivery system.
