JOB SUMMARYThe Matt Bettini Lab in the Department of Pathology has an immediate opening for a Post Doctoral Research Associate who shares our vision for excellence in immunology research. The position will be based at the University of Utah School of Medicine, ranked among the top 30 public research universities in the United States, located in the beautiful foothills overlooking Salt Lake City.The focus of the research program is to understand central tolerance mechanisms and their dysregulation in autoimmunity. Currently, NIH funded projects are aimed at elucidating parameters of beta cell antigen specific T cell development, mechanisms important for tolerance induction to intestinal microbes, and cross talk between the gut and thymus in adults and neonates.The preferred applicant will be familiar with one or more of the following techniques: next-generation single cell RNA sequencing, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry and small animal surgery. The post doc will contribute to projects understanding the transcriptional regulation and TCR signaling signatures of immune T cell development by self-antigens and extended self-antigens (microbiome restricted).
