State of Utah - Jobs Legislative Fellow in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah
The Utah State Board of Education is currently accepting applications for the 2025 USBE Legislative Fellowship. This fellowship offers a distinctive opportunity to engage with the Utah General Legislative Session. As a USBE Legislative Fellow,you will collaborate directly with the Deputy Superintendent of Policy,monitor legislation,and provide vital support to the USBE policy team. From meeting with school districts to coordinating with the governor s office,the Legislative Fellow receives a nuanced and vertical understanding of policy making in the education space.
The USBE Legislative Fellow is expected to work in-person at the Utah State Capitol throughout the 2025 General Session. The Fellowship is full-time,with consistent overtime throughout the legislative session,and offers competitive compensation through an hourly rate (as opposed to a stipend-based model).

Principal Duties
- Coordinate USBE communication during committee meetings
- Monitor and track public education related legislation
- Support State Board weekly legislative meetings
- Communicate with USBE staff on behalf of the Deputy Superintendent and Policy Advisor
- Conduct research related to bills and Board fiscal requests
- Analyze,review and summarize data,report findings,and interpret results
Schedule and/or coordinate appointments,meetings,facilities,equipment,etc.
Typical Qualificati ons
In addition to demonstrating a high degree of flexibility and diplomacy in a professional environment,applicants must have a variety of skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Generally proficient in google and Microsoft tools
- Experience working in a professional office setting
- Must be able to work extended hours (40+ hours) beginning January 16 to March 1,2025 (Extending dates beyond the stated dates is negotiable) with a preferred start date of January 6,2025.
- Preference given to candidates with a Bachelor s degree or higher
