SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Health Science Adjunct, Medical Ethics in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Health Science Adjunct, Medical Ethics is responsible for teaching courses related to ethical and legal issues in the medial field. Topics include patient rights, bioethics, and ethical implications of medical practices. This role involves delivering course content, assessing student performance and providing academic support to students. 

  1. Effectively prepare and teach Health Science classes as assigned.

  2. Content for classes will be taught as stipulated by the course syllabi and supervising faculty.

  3. Maintains accurate and complete student attendance records, grades, and other classroom documentation as applicable. Grades must be maintained on the College's learning management system.

  4. Demonstrate a depth of knowledge and understanding in legal and ethical issues in healthcare.

  5. Participates in trainings and other responsibilities as assigned and approved.

  6. Responds to department and college communication within two business days

1.Becomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization

  1. Maintains professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators

  2. Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments

  3. Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards

  4. Conducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance.

  5. Informs students of progress-to-date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines

  6. Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment

  7. Prepares and submits incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy

  8. Maintains professional and collegial behavior

  9. Handles/responds to student concerns/complaints, and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 12 days)

  10. Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure

  11. Completes all required employee trainings

  12. Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines

  13. Provides ADA accommodations as requested

  14. Other job-related duties as needed
