We are seeking a graduate research assistant (doctoral-level) from any discipline to lead the development of a manuscript focused on how employers can prepare for disruptive events (e.g. COVID-19, natural disasters) by creating communication and feedback structures that are focused on the needs of workers. This manuscript will include an examination of the core competencies of Total Worker Health, an approach to occupational safety and health that seeks to protect workers against hazards while promoting well-being. Prior knowledge of occupational health and employer communication is welcome but not necessary.This manuscript will present findings from Incorporating Worksite Interventions in Safety and Health: Building Capacity for Total Worker Health (IWISH), a research study examining employer response to COVID-19 from the perspectives of frontline workers and supervisors. After conducting a literature review and creating a framework for a manuscript, the RA will work with the IWISH research team to incorporate research project findings into the larger context of what we know about employer preparedness for disruptive events. Before the RA begins work, U-POWER will provide an orientation to Total Worker Health (TWH) and IWISH, as well as a list of potential articles to help the RA orient themselves within the literature. Please note that is a grant-funded position and is contingent upon continued funding.
