University of Utah Health Flight Coordinator in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

This position is responsible for providing dispatch services to the assigned department. The incumbent uses a multi-line telephone system to receive and relay information to the appropriate units, then creates and logs incident reports. This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Answers incoming telephone calls on a multi-line telephone system, radio communications system, and computer messaging application from the transfer center regarding potential flight information.

  • Confirms incoming information with caller and inputs data into Golden Hour, Complete Flight, Safety Logs and Flight databases.

  • Communicates with physicians, nurses, administration, emergency medical services, fire departments and law enforcement to facilitate the safe transportation of critical and non-critical clients.

  • Reads paper and computer maps to determine plotting, location identification, and locales with GPS coordinates.

  • Prioritizes and disseminates accurate and pertinent information to the appropriate teams while keeping the safety of the crews and aircraft a top priority.

  • Provides a high level of customer service.

  • Creates and facilitates quotes for air medical services.

  • Ability to speak concisely and distinctly.

  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to function calmly and competently in high stress situations.

  • Ability to communicate well with physicians, nurses, fire departments, emergency medical services and other agencies.

  • Ability to type at least 35 wpm.

  • Demonstrated computer experience.

  • Ability to maintain a proper sense of priorities when confronted by multiple calls.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

  • One year of related experience.

  • Successful completion of the AirMed Training course, and a passing score on both the written and practical exams within one year of hire.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • One year of experience in a dispatch, PM, EMT, EMD, EMS, or related field.

  • IAMTCS national certification within year of hire.

  • Familiarity with the Wasatch Front.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

  • This is a sedentary position in an office setting that may exert up to 10 pounds and may lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This position involves sitting most of the time and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
