Job Title:  *Engineering and Geoscience Manager (Environmental Manager) *Job Description: * As an Engineering and Geoscience Manager for The Division of Oil,Gas,and Mining,you will be a vital cog in the machinery in ensuring responsible energy development. This role is tailor-made for those who excel at balancing schedules and paying attention to details. Your day-to-day involvement will directly impact the environmental footprint of our operations,making this role perfect for someone passionate about making a difference,enjoys problem-solving and is eager to dive into the intricacies of operational excellence. This role is pivotal in ensuring a smooth program supporting the oil and gas program in their duties. *Principal Duties: As an Engineering and Geoscience Manager,you will:

  • Manage the Engineering and Geoscience Group,including petroleum engineers and geologists by supervising subordinate personnel including hiring,determining workload and delegating assignments,training,monitoring,and evaluating performance,and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions
  • Recommend,advocate,and/or implement,new and/or changes to existing policies and procedures,laws,or regulations
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws,regulations,and/or agency rules,standards and guidelines,etc.
  • Manage one or more statewide or agency-wide program(s) and determine program goals and objectives and/or chair committees established to support the program
  • Provide consultation,make recommendations,give appropriate advice,and/or facilitate decisions to the Board of Oil,Gas,and Mining,oil and gas operators in Utah,other stakeholders,employees,and the public
  • Act as an expert witness; give testimony and/or recommendations in court cases and/or hearings
  • Support the Oil & Gas Program s digitization and automation transformation efforts

The Ideal Candidate,(will have):

  • Bachelor s degree in petroleum engineering,geology,geoscience or related field
  • Experience in managing and supervising a team
  • 8-10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and/or state laws,regulations,and/or agency rules,standards,and guidelines
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Utah or the ability to obtain within six months
  • Licensed Utah Professional Geologist,or the ability to become one within six months
  • Experience in petroleum engineering,geology,geoscience and natural resource management

  • Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems before 7/1/2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.
  • Employees hired on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System.

``` - Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer ontributes an amount equal to   10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k)) - Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.

Paid Time Off:

  • Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual,4 hours sick).
