*Responsibilities  *

As the Division Director, Consumer Purchasing and Merchandising you will:

  • Exercise discretion and judgment in managing the administrative and operational functions and serve as technical experts over the Consumer Purchasing and Merchandising division in the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services.
  • Plan, implement, coordinate and monitor division operations which includes: buying alcoholic beverage products, store-level inventory management, category management, and merchandising planning. 
  • Develop and draft policies, procedures, rules, legislation, correspondence, etc. Ensure compliance with state and federal law. 
  • Respond to public, private, industry and special interest concerns and GRAMA requests. 
  • Represent agency at legislative, commission and administrative meetings and hearings. 
  • Coordinate program operations with other state, federal and local governmental agencies. 
  • Oversee the preparation of the division's budget and monitor fiscal activity to ensure conformity to goals and budget constraints. 
  • Supervise staff including monitoring and delegating work assignments, providing performance evaluations, hiring and recommending disciplinary actions including terminations. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills are necessary for evaluating inventory levels, market data, and making informed purchasing decisions.
  • A deep understanding of the alcoholic beverage industry, including product knowledge, category management, distribution channels, and market trends, is vital.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams, budgets, and complex projects is crucial.
  • A thorough understanding of relevant state and federal laws and regulations related to the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages is critical.
  • 5 Years Experience in Supply Chain Management
  • 5 Years experience in People Management
  • 5 year experience in Inventory Category Management
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Successfully pass a Criminal History Background check.

*Preference(s): *

  • Bachelor's degree and any relevant certifications in supply chain, inventory management, category management, etc. or equivalent experience of 5 or mo re years of work experience in this field of work.
