This temporary paid position is to provide cancer education and outreach to diverse communities, including implementation of a colorectal cancer prevention and screening intervention to participants attending a mobile health clinic. Training in cancer prevention education and cancer support resources will be provided for this temporary position. This position requires local travel within Salt Lake valley. The successful candidate will be required to take necessary regulatory and research trainings.

This position is considered Category I: Mandatory and required on campus or health care facilities to support on-site operations. Employees hired into this category will be required to be physically located at HCI if they are healthy and without COVID -19 symptoms
1.Provide and facilitate education about cancer prevention to increase knowledge of self-sufficiency and self-efficacy
2.Participate in various community events and workshops, acting as a health resource person, connecting communities with cancer prevention and screening education and enabling recruitment into research projects
3.Provide community outreach and patient navigation to individuals in the community
4.Provide support with administrative tasks, as necessary

There are two levels in the Health Educator position.
Health Educator I: Candidate must have a BS in health promotion or related field. Ability to demonstrate entry level competence in the 7 Areas of Responsibilities for Health Education or 10 Essential Functions of Public Health.
Health Educator II: Candidate must have a BS in health promotion or related field, and four or more years of health education experience. Must also possess and maintain certification as a CHES , MCHES , or CPH . Ability to demonstrate working-level professional knowledge in the 7 Areas of Responsibilities for Health Education or 10 Essential Functions of Public Health.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills required.
Training in a specific health area may be preferred.
