The Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR),a Division of the Department of Workforce Services (DWS),is seeking a motivated individual with a disability to fill a 16-week,paid internship as a College Track Program/ Instructor of the Blind - Work Ability Intern for our Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (DSBVI) in the Salt Lake City Office.

You will assist students through the college track application process and provide support throughout the program.  You will also assist other instructors with students that may need some additional one on one tutoring in the training center classes such as braille,computers,and home management.

Principal Duties

  • Assists students through the application process for our college track program.
  • Tutors students when needed: Assists with students in writing,math and organizational skills.
  • Assists DSBVI training center instructors with students.  Some classes include braille,home management and computers.
  • Follows up with former students to get feedback on student progress after training.
  • Provides mentoring to students.
  • Participates in monthly training center activities for students.
  • Participates in our student group discussions to promote self-confidence,self-reliance,and positive attitudes about blindness.
  • Attends staff meetings and client staffing as scheduled.
