University Medical Billing (UMB) is a fully remote department that is viewed as the premier billing office for the University of Utah School of Medicine, serving over 1,800 providers and 30 different specialties across Utah and surrounding states. As a Coder 2, you will utilize coding knowledge to assign CPT and ICD-10 codes for abstracting, coding, and interpreting of outpatient clinic and provider services for professional and/or facility billing while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and reimbursement rules and regulations. Additionally, Level 2 Coders mentor and assist in the training of Level 1 Coders and provide feedback to providers and clinic managers on billing-related issues. Candidates need to have a nationally recognized coding certification and 2 years coding, clinical, or billing experience OR equivalency of 3 years coding experience is required.Compensation & BenefitsThe starting hourly rate for this position is $23 - $25/hr, depending on experience. Members of UMB are eligible for a bonus based on department performance. Additionally, new hires are required to provide their own monitors (two) and reliable internet service.
