SMX is seeking a talented, hands-on Cloud Engineer to lead the design, implementation and migration of client workloads into a streamlined multi-cloud environment. The ideal candidate will hands-on experience with designing and deploying various cloud infrastructures (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) across all majors CSPs (AWS, Azure, GCP). This person will have exceptional communication skills and will regularly participate in requirements gathering discussions. This is a remote position with periodic travel to the following locations: Raleigh, NC; Wilkes-Barre, PA; National Capital Region; Memphis, TN; Eagan, MN; St. Louis; MO; Norman, OK; Topeka, KS; San Mateo, CA. Candidate will be required to obtain the equivalent of a public trust clearance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides detailed analysis, evaluation and recommendations for improvements, optimization development, and/or maintenance efforts for existing IT infrastructures, to include on-prem, hybrid, and cloud

• Lead the design, test, and implementation of cloud infrastructures leveraging multiple cloud service providers

• Monitors and continuously improves the the performance of cloud infrastructure

• Typically initiates, supervises, and/or develops requirements from a project’s inception to conclusion for complex to extremely complex programs

• Provides strategic and expert advice and technical guidance, to program and project staff

• Supervises studies: leading surveys and performing data collection for analyses used to advise and recommend/suggest solutions

Required Skills:

• Experience with service-oriented architecture (SOA), machine learning, artificial intelligence, microservices and Kubernetes

• Experience conducting analysis of current on-prem, hybrid, and cloud architectures

• Experience designing, testing, and implementing cloud infrastructures leveraging multiple cloud service providers (CSPs)

• Experience securing cloud infrastructures in accordance with the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA)

• The ability to obtain and maintain a low level federal clearance

Required Experience:

• 20+ years of experience

• Bachelor's degree. Degree may be waived for an additional 4 years of experience

• One or more associate level cloud certifications (i.e. AWS Solutions Architect)
