Become an integral member of a great team!  The Industrial Accidents Division is looking for a hardworking team player with great communication skills to fill its Claims Specialist position. This position offers medical,dental,and vision insurance from day one,12 paid holidays,paid vacation and sick leave,and so much more! *This position requires you to work 8-5 Monday through Friday. Upon successful completion of training, you will be eligible to apply for telework understanding that you will be on site no less than one day weekly with frequent requirements of at least two days in office weekly as required for coverage,training and meetings.   PRINCIPAL DUTIES In this position,you will be one of the facilitators for the Workers' Compensation claims process. You will assist injured workers,employers,medical providers,attorneys,and insurance adjusters by advising on the Workers' Compensation process,answering questions,reaching resolutions to disputes,and ensuring compliance with the Workers' Compensation Act. In this position your duties will include,but are not limited to the following:


  • Receiving,researching and responding to incoming questions or complaints.
  • Assisting in resolving workers' compensation claim disputes. 
  • Ensuring workers' compensation laws are followed throughout the process. 
  • Providing parties with information concerning rights,options,benefits,services,goals and expectations.
  • Interpreting,clarifying,explaining,and applying agency policy and procedures,business practices,federal and state laws,and regulations,etc.
  • Gathering documentation to support negotiated resolution of non-compliance issues. 
  • Recommending penalties and corrective action for non-compliance with regulations. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the management team.

      THE IDEAL CANDIDATE Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications.
  • The ability to patiently guide injured workers and other parties to understand the Workers Compensation Claims process under Utah Law.
  • The ability to search,review,apply and explain the laws and rules pertaining to the Workers Compensation Act.
  • Professional Experience with Workers Compensation in Utah.
  • Be a team player open to collaboration and constructive feedback.
  • Take ownership of work and initiative to recommend positive changes.

  • Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS):
    • Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.
    • Employees hired on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System. 
      • Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))
      • Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.  
    • Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.
  • Paid Time Off:
    • Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual,4 hours sick).
    • Annual leave amounts increase with years of service. 
    • We have 12 paid holidays.
