Overview:

  • Elements of success include maintenance of positive relationships, professional and timely processing of invoices, upholding standards of safety and quality, effective time management, and budget control.

  • This position reports directly to the Director of Planning & Operations and works with organizational leaders to successfully scope projects and strategically manage space requests.

  • This position is not responsible for providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares instruments and/or equipment to be cleaned and disinfected and distributes to departments, labs and clinics.

  • Cleans and disinfects instruments and/or equipment and checks biologicals.

  • Maintains inventory, orders and stocks supplies.

  • Manages department requests for Central Service supplies and schedules and tracks instrument and/or equipment use.

  • Documents patient charges for instruments and/or equipment use and cart supplies.

  • Ensures that safety inspections, calibrations and preventive maintenance are completed prior to scheduled expiration dates.

  • Assists in training new employees and Central Service Technicians.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required

  • Entry level position.

Qualifications (Preferred)

Preferred

  • Successful completion of the IAHCSMM Technician Training course or equivalency.

  • Two or more years of leadership experience.

  • Two or more years of experience as a Central Processing Technician.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Employee must be able to meet the following requirements with or without an accommodation.

  • This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds any may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects. The incumbent may face exposure to potentially dangerous contaminated body fluids, used needles, razor blades, knives, bone shavings, pieces of glass, and other contaminants as part of the daily hazards of the job and must wear protective attire at all times.
