CLINICAL SCIENTIST . The Department of Psychology at the University of Utah invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty positions in our Clinical Science program. We are seeking applicants with a strong clinical science orientation that permeates all aspects of their work (research, teaching, clinical supervision/practice, etc.). We are interested in all qualified candidates, with special consideration for applicants that can contribute to one of our areas of specialty training (clinical child and family, clinical neuropsychology, clinical health psychology, and general psychopathology) and that can support our undergraduate teaching mission. In addition, we are seeking applications from clinical scientists with experience and interests in health disparities, cultural tailoring of interventions, community engagement, and/or assessment and measurement invariance modeling. Applications from candidates with these interests are encouraged and will be considered even if they do not fall into one of our areas of specialty. The Department of Psychology values candidates who have experience working in settings with students and conducting research with individuals from all backgrounds, including historically underrepresented individuals and welcomes candidates whose interest and skills contribute to this goal. Postdoctoral training, license-eligibility, and expertise in quantitative methods are also highly valued.

A member of the Academy of Psychological Clinical Science and continuously accredited by APA since 1954, our Clinical Science program has a history of generative collaborations within our areas of specialization (clinical neuropsychology, clinical child and family, clinical health psychology, and general psychopathology); as well as with the Psychology Department’s other graduate training programs (Cognition and Neural Sciences, Developmental, Social, and Quantitative); additional departments and colleges across campus (e.g., Educational Psychology, Ethnic Studies, Family and Consumer Studies, Gender Studies, Psychiatry, Social Work, Sociology); and transformational centers of excellence such as the Consortium for Families and Health Research (C- FAHR ). Applications from individuals whose research interests lend themselves to such collaborations are particularly encouraged as are applications from individuals with demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentorship. The department promotes multidisciplinary collaboration outside of the Department of Psychology with active ties to the School of Computing, Bioengineering, the Business School, the College of Education, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Neurology, Psychiatry, Radiology, the Digital Health Initiative, the Huntsman Cancer Institute ( HCI ), the Huntsman Mental Health Institute ( HMHI ), the Behavioral Health Innovation and Dissemination Center ( BHIDC ), the Utah Network for LGBTQ Thriving (ThriveNet), and the Salt Lake Veterans Administration Medical Center.

The University of Utah values candidates who have experience working in settings with students, staff, faculty and patients from diverse backgrounds and possess a strong commitment to improving access to higher education, employment opportunities, and quality healthcare for historically underrepresented groups. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply, including individuals from historically underrepresented groups, such as minorities, women, qualified persons with disabilities and protected veterans.

The University of Utah is located in Salt Lake City nestled in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains. With an enrollment of 31,000 students (and growing), it is the flagship university for the state of Utah. Please submit statements of research and teaching interests, a curriculum vitae, three representative reprints or preprints of publications, and contact information for three individuals who will provide letters of recommendation. Review of applications will begin October 1, 2024 and will continue until the position is filled.
