Rape Recovery Center ADVOCACY COORDINATOR- TOOLE COUNTY in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

JOB OVERVIEW 

The Advocacy Coordinator- Tooele County advances the mission of the Rape Recovery Center to empower primary and secondary survivors of sexual violence through the provision and supervision of advocacy, crisis intervention, case management, and support groups. The Advocacy Coordinator- Tooele County oversees the day-to-day operations of the advocacy program in Salt Lake County and provides direct services as needed. The Coordinator provides supervision, training, and leadership to the advocacy staff, interns, and volunteers. This position is responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and making program adjustments as part of the continuous quality improvement of the program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Ensure a client's trajectory through services is accessible and consistent, identify service issues, and address gaps to meet the Utah Standards of Care for Rape Crisis Centers. 

  • Ensure that survivors of sexual violence are oriented to their constitutional and statutory rights and assist in securing those rights. 

  • Ensure that all services provided by the advocacy program meet confidential communication requirements set forth by the Utah Confidential Communication Act, Utah Code 77-38-202.

  • Maintain and assure quality, accurate, and confidentiality of records and all data is recorded within 24 hours. 

  • Respond to community inquiries, external requests, and questions regarding services.

  • Connect with external organizations and partners for resource sharing, information, program development and service outreach. 

  • Provide survivors support, and education in connecting with resources, and understanding the investigation process.

  • Participate in the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) process by coordinating client services with fellow staff and multidisciplinary team members; including acting as a liaison between survivors and law enforcement, medical and mental health providers, and prosecutors.

  • Lead the Tooele County SART meetings, including scheduling, creating agendas for monthly meetings, coordinating and conducting trainings, and performing all other related duties as needed.

  • Assists Advocacy Director with developing, administering, and maintaining program grants, data reports, and client surveys.

  • Represent Rape Recovery Center with a professional image and manner. 

* *MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, mental health services or related field, 6 years of relevant experience with at least one (1) year of relevant supervision experience required OR a combination of practical and academic experience. 

  • Demonstrated track record of service provision, in social work, human services, or case management capacity.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, efficiency, and timeliness.

  • Excellent communication and communication skills, including writing, de-escalation, crisis intervention, and active listening. 

* *DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, mental health services or related field. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Utah Standards of Care for Rape Crisis Programs and feminist multicultural approach.  

  • Understanding of micro, mezzo, and macro systems and their impact on survivors.

  • Proven experience in case management, crisis advocacy, and working with vulnerable populations (LGBTQI+, Homeless, Pacific Islanders, American Indian/Native American, undocumented immigrants).

  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish.

     CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT OFFER

  • The employee must complete all new hire paperwork by the end of the day on the first workday.

  • The employee must complete a criminal background check.

    • Instructions on obtaining the background check will be provided by the operations team.

    • Part of this process requires uploading a state-issued ID and scheduling an ppointment with the Department of Public Safety for physical fingerprints to be processed.

    • Please note a 2-3 week turnaround time as fingerprint appointments (subject to COVID safety protocols as determined by DPS) are not immediately available. 

    • Employees/Staff Members of the RRC cannot be alone with clients until the background check is received and reviewed for risk. 

  • The employee must obtain a 40-hour crisis counselor certification and submit within 120 days.

  • The employee agrees to a probationary period of 90-days from the first day of working in their new position. After 90-days, the employee will receive a detailed evaluation of their progress. 

  • Employees must comply with the flu and covid19 vaccination policy.
