About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Sr Data Center Portfolio Manager to join our growing retrofit data center construction Portfolio Management Office (PMO). The ideal candidate will have extensive global experience in portfolio planning and capital planning of retrofit construction for aging data center MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) assets. This role demands a professional with a robust MEP background, a deep understanding of data center reliability, availability, and maintainability requirements, and a proven ability to develop and implement scalable strategies for a rapidly growing portfolio.

What you’ll do :

Strategic Planning & Implementation:

  • Develop, implement, and refine strategies for scaling the portfolio delivery in anticipation of exponential growth.

  • Create and manage a multi year roadmap of retrofit and upgrade projects, ensuring all necessary dependencies are accounted for.

  • Establish procedures and methodologies for evaluating useful life estimations of MEP assets and planning retrofits/upgrades accordingly.

Portfolio & Capital Planning:

  • Support portfolio planning and capital planning efforts for retrofit construction projects. ○ Analyze and prioritize projects based on factors such as urgency, potential impact, and resource availability.

  • Manage budget allocations and ensure cost-effective use of resources.

Data Center Reliability & MEP Expertise:

  • Leverage strong MEP background to ensure all retrofit projects meet data center reliability, availability, and maintainability requirements.

  • Apply best practices in MEP asset management to extend the useful life and optimize performance of aging data center infrastructure.

Communication & Stakeholder Management:

  • Navigate a highly matrixed organization to facilitate timely alignment and implementation of PMO initiatives.

  • Communicate effectively with various departments and levels of management to ensure alignment on portfolio strategies and objectives. 1

  • Present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Process Improvement & Innovation:

  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and methodologies related to portfolio and capital planning.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and innovations in data center construction and MEP asset management, and incorporate relevant advancements into the PMO strategy.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

  • 15-20 years of extensive global experience in portfolio planning and capital planning for retrofit construction of aging data center MEP assets.

  • Strong background in MEP systems, with a deep understanding of data center reliability, availability, and maintainability requirements.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing scalable strategies for large portfolios.

  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization and build consensus among competing stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the data center industry, specifically in retrofit construction projects.

  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or asset management.

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools and software.

Equal Pay Disclaimer: CBRE Carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for this position is $120,000.00 and the maximum salary for this position is $199,000.00 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental Insurance, Health Insurance, Life Insurance, and Vision Insurance.
