WorkSource Oregon Deputy Sheriff - Enforcement in Salem, Oregon

The Marion County Sheriff\'s Office is seeking both trainee and certified applicants to join our Enforcement team as a Deputy Sheriff. The Enforcement Division provides law enforcement services to a diverse population throughout Marion County, spanning nearly 1,200 square miles. Deputies work in a wide array of environments including urban and rural communities as well as the farming and frontier regions of Marion County depending upon their assignment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be service-oriented, and be willing to work in a team environment. We are a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program. WAGES \$30.48 - \$36.76 Trainee Pay Rate* \$33.47 - \$44.81 Certified Pay Rate* *Hourly rate negotiable. Requirements for the Position Must meet the following State Department of Public Safety Standards and Training requirements: 1. United States Citizen within one year of employment 2. At least 21 years of age at the time of employment (Marion County Sheriff\'s Office will consider applicants who are age 20, if they meet the qualifications of the position and are age 21 within 90 days from the recruitment close date.) 3. Possess a high school diploma, G.E.D., or 4-year post-secondary degree 4. Declared by a physician as able to perform the physical duties required by the occupation 5. Of good moral fitness, without legal conduct involving moral turpitude, dishonesty, fraud, deceit, misrepresentation, and conviction of drug and/or sex crimes. Information regarding the minimum qualifications and physical requirements for Oregon law enforcement officers is available in section 259-008-0010 of the Oregon Administrative Rules. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTIFIED LEVEL 1. Meets trainee level requirements; AND has eighteen months of experience as a police officer or deputy; OR any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position, as determined by Marion County; AND 2. Possess a Basic Police certification from the Department of Public Safety, Standards and Training (DPSST). If in possession of an out-of-state Police Officer certification, must attend and pass the DPSST Career Officer Development Course within one year of hire. Successful out-of-state applicants are hired at the Deputy Sheriff Trainee level and wage range until Oregon certification is achieved.
