Job Title: Lathe Machinist

Job Description

The Lathe Machinist produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines. This role is essential in maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and ensuring the proper maintenance of equipment and supplies. Candidates will be responsible for working on both CNC Mill and CNC Lathe machines, including 3, 4, 5, and 9 axis machines.

Responsibilities

  • Operate both Mill and Lathe CNC Machines, including Mazak, Mazak Integrex, OKK, Haas, Okuma Lathe (1 and 3 spindle), and Mori Seiki.

  • Perform CNC Machine set-ups, operate, and run equipment to meet parts requirements using Mazatrol, G and M Code.

  • Handle tooling changeovers and adjustments.

  • Run and measure parts to close and exact tolerances.

  • Ensure productivity of CNC Machines.

  • Make quality measurements, check dimensions, analyze data, and make appropriate adjustments to meet part specifications.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience performing set up, operating, and running CNC Mill or CNC Lathe Machines OR a degree from Ranken.

  • Experience performing set ups, tooling adjustments, quality checks of parts, and troubleshooting machinery.

  • Understanding of GDNT symbols.

  • Ability to read blueprints and specifications.

  • Experience working with tight tolerances.

  • Ability to read programming codes such as Mazatrol, G Code, and M Code.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Aerospace experience preferred but not required.

Work Environment

Work in a climate-controlled machine shop that includes 19 CNC Machining Centers, 6 CNC Turning Centers including Mazak Integrex, Omax Waterjet, and in-house EDM hole popping with 3, 4, 5, and 9 axis capabilities. Shifts available are Monday-Thursday from 6am-4pm (1st shift), Monday-Thursday from 3:30pm-2am (2nd shift) with a $2 shift differential, and weekend shifts Friday-Sunday with a $2 shift differential for 1st shift and a $8 shift differential for 3rd shift. Expect numerous setups per day/week and training on days for several months. The work involves running 1 or 2 very expensive parts, not mass production.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $80000.00
