JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the chair of Teacher Education (TE), the Professional Experience Skills Specialist is responsible for helping to assess and administer the arc of professional placements and field experiences for all HSE students through student teaching supervision, playing a vital role internally in aligning curricular and clinical learning for prospective and advancing educators on the path to licensure.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work related to Student Teaching and Clinical Placements
Facilitate GED 7802, Preparing to Student Teach (a 0-credit orientation course).
Work with staff advisors to identify incoming student teachers and guide them through the process of application and successful entry into student-teaching.
Serve on the Office of Clinical Experiences Committee (attend bi-weekly meetings).
-Be available to perform other responsibilities related to clinical placements as needed:
Supervise student teachers.
Facilitate SEPBT conferences.
Provide professional development for cooperating teachers and student teachers.
Work with early career teachers (Hamline program completers) to provide mentorship and form professional learning communities.
Attending MACTE and other professional meetings as a Hamline’s clinical placement representative.
Participating in PELSB accreditation processes and site visits.
Work with the Student-Teaching and Additional License Coordinators:
Maintain and update the Student Teaching and Additional License Handbooks annually.
Identify and hire student-teaching supervisors (including generating contracts and mileage reimbursement).
Ensure that supervisors are appropriately trained around Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) and working with adult learners and maintain clear records of those trainings.
Help interview supervisor candidates as needed.
Recordkeeping for Teacher Licensure and PELSB Reviews
Create and maintain a system of clear and accessible records for:
All initial license student-teaching placements
All clinical experiences prior to student-teaching
Cooperating teacher evaluations from clinical experiences
Cooperating teacher and supervisor evaluations from student teaching
Help to synthesize/summarize the data collected above for reporting purposes and bring this data to OCE for discussion/continuous improvement efforts.
Work with the Director of Graduate Advising to ensure that clinical and placement information is accurately recorded in Workday for all teacher candidates.
Serve on the state and national accreditation teams; participate in writing reports and preparing for site-visits to help ensure a successful outcome.
Work Related to Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice in HSEL
Serve as a standing member of HSEL’s Equity and Inclusion Task Force to help ensure continuity of goals and projects from year to year.
Work with HSEL leadership to develop and enact annual equity-related goals for the unit.
Work with HSEL leadership and the Director of the Center for Excellence in Urban Education to provide support for aspiring teachers of color and American Indian teacher candidates (for example, helping to organize group events; serving as an affinity group facilitator; assisting the director with grant applications and recordkeeping).
All other duties as requested.
Serve as staff academic advisor for the para pathway students.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the: Chair of Teacher Education
This position does not supervise other employees.
This position supervises 3-5 student workers.
BUDGET MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is not responsible for the management of a budget.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KEY COMPETENCIES
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Google Apps, Banner and Crystal reporting.
Experience and sensitivity working with students from diverse backgrounds.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited university or sufficient work experience demonstrating ability to perform the duties of this position.
Two (2) plus professional use of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and database management.
Occasional night and or weekend work is required
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree in education from an accredited college or university.
Three (3) years of experience working with state licensure requirements in a professional setting.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position is a full-time, 1.0 FTE, exempt position, 12 months a year.
This position may require overtime during peak seasons.
