Job Description The O&M Technician provides the organization with a knowledgeable, multi-skilled, troubleshooting expert who operates and maintains a 357MW simple cycle power station. This position requires highly flexible individuals that can work various shift schedules in a Team environment performing various team support functions.
- The O&M Technician will be a team player performing operations, maintenance and technical support to achieve safe, cost effective operation and maintenance of the Cannon Falls Energy Center.
- Operate the facility during start-up, shutdown, normal and emergency conditions in accordance with operating procedures and instructions to maintain a safe and efficient operation.
- Maintain and trouble-shoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and/or control systems in a power generation facility.
- This position requires electrical and instrumentation and controls experience. Candidates should be versed in AC circuits, DC circuits, and electrical distribution.
- Experience in working with and with low, medium, and high AC voltages is desired. This includes 120-volt, 480-volt, 4160-volt circuits and the related distribution components. These components include breakers, fuses, CT's, PT's, transformers, and line monitoring equipment.
- Also desired is instrumentation and controls knowledge and or experience. This involves an understanding of process monitoring devices such as flow meters, pressure transducers, thermocouples. In addition, using the testing equipment to test and calibrate such devise is helpful but not mandatory.
- Must be able to read and understand schematic blueprints and technical documents.
- Perform/direct housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean safe work environment and professional appearance.
- Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety and environmental procedures.
- The O&M Technician will work various shifts and be subject to weekends, holidays, scheduled, and unscheduled overtime.
- Uses computerized maintenance management system to initiate work requests for material deficiencies noted during shift operations.
- Trains and develops other employees.
- Performs duties such as writing procedures, updating shift schedules, etc.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Education/experience in power plant operations, mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance or instrument and controls.
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Candidates must be willing and capable of becoming multi-skilled and be part of a self-directed work team in a team environment.
- Each employee will perform both operations and maintenance.
