TKDA Group Manager, Project Delivery (Architecture) - *NEW OPPORTUNITY* in Saint Paul, Minnesota
Our employee-owned and integrated team of multi-discipline design and engineering professionals has an excitingnew opportunity available for a senior registered architect who has extensive experience managing a variety of multi-discipline projects and prior experience leading and further developing a talented group of project management professionals. As a Group Manager (GM), your primary responsibility will be to lead and develop a team of architecture professionals who are responsible for managing a portfolio of multi-discipline projects across various market sectors. With insight on our strategic and annual business plan, you will engage with your team members to outline career development plans and establish obtainable goals that further their professional growth and align with TKDA business performance objectives. Through recurring discussions with each team member, you will provide guidance on project management strategies, coach on client management practices, and allocate project management assignments in accordance with team member strengths and/or to enhance their project management skills. In collaboration with Market Managers and the Vice President of Architecture, you will define project scopes and fee estimates, negotiate contracts, convey client needs and expectations, assess delivery methods (design-build, design-bid-build, etc.), establish delivery success factors, identify crucial design coordination efforts or challenges, determine project management assignments, identify resource needs, and assist in assembling project teams. Additionally, you will monitor delivery performance for all active projects in accordance with TKDA processes and standards by auditing project development work plans, conducting quality reviews, and overseeing procurement activities. You will also monitor financial performance against pre-established metrics for each project, each project manager, and the collective project management team. As appropriate, you will contribute to and lead proposal development efforts for large project pursuits, participate in high-potential prospective client outreach and engagement efforts, and assume the role of project manager for large multi-discipline projects. For this opportunity we are seeking a qualified professional who resides within a regular commuting distance of our Saint Paul office and who has is able to travel between TKDA locations and regionally as required or needed based on assigned responsibilities. TKDA provides employees with flexible hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote) work arrangements. Required Qualifications Architectural education, pre-professional degree (bachelors or associates). Prior experience as a program manager or senior project manager on multiple concurrent multi-discipline projects. Fifteen or more years of progressive experience with a diverse portfolio that showcases design talents and project management skills with an emphasis on buildings within the education/academic, corporate, commercial/industrial, airport, transit, and/or government / civic sectors. Minimum of five years of multi-disciplined project management experience with a successful track record and reputation of effectively managing stakeholder expectations, project scope, fee estimates, budgets, and schedules. Extensive knowledge of building code and other regulatory and/or environmental compliance requirements. Working knowledge of design-build (DB) and design-bid-build (DBB) delivery methods. Previous experience managing and developing experienced design professionals with project management responsibilities. Flexibility to travel up to 20% to conduct on-site consultations, participate in project meetings, facilitate business development activities, and represent TKDA at regional and national conferences. Advantageous Qualifications NAAB accredited degree in architecture or landscape architecture. Professional registration in the State of Minnesota. NCARB certification or registration in dditional states. Prior experience as a client service manager or in a business development capacity with direct client contact. Prior business development experience demonstrated by an ability to cultivate, strengthen, and/or maintain stakeholder relations and an ability to identify and secure new project opportunities. Previous experience contributing to or outlining client and market development plans as well as annual and multi-year strategic business plans to meet project, market, division, and corporate revenue and profit goals. LEED Accreditation and working knowledge of State of Minnesota B3 Guidelines. Current affiliation or active membership with professional associations (AIA, CSI, ICC, etc.). *Have you heard the news?
