Become part of our Federal team as a Process Mechanical Engineer specializing in civil works infrastructure. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about diversifying their careers and immersing themselves in a variety of project types, including locks and dams, tidal gates and barriers, moveable floodwalls, pump stations, and water/wastewater treatment facilities. The ideal candidate will also have traditional mechanical engineering experience with HVAC and buildings. You’ll lead project teams through the design process and interact directly with clients, owners, and contractors. You’ll be accountable for schedule, scope, budget, and quality of engineering tasks, calculations, and construction documents. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who will build relationships with Civil Works staff across Jacobs’ lines of business to coordinate design activities with a multitude of engineering disciplines on coastal and inland civil works projects.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a Process Mechanical emphasis.

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.

  • At least 10 years’ relevant professional experience designing mechanical systems for civil works and water infrastructure.

  • Experience working in a multi-disciplined environment.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentations.

  • Proficiency in mechanical design software (e.g., Trace 700 or Trace 3D Plus, Carrier HAP, Pipe-Flo).

  • Knowledge of technical codes and standards (IBC, ASCE, UFC, etc.).

  • Proactive attitude of taking initiative, exhibiting creative problem-solving, and eagerness to learn.

  • United States Citizenship.

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Federal design experience for USACE (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers).

  • Federal design experience for DoD (Department of Defense) clients.

  • Civil Works experience with onsite participation in construction activities.

  • Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior staff.

  • Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD.

  • Experience with Navisworks and Bluebeam.

  • United States Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain.
