The Boeing Company is seeking an experienced Lead Software Test Engineer to join our Harpoon Team in St. Charles, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization. The Harpoon software is being modified to align with the expanding capabilities and functionality of the Boeing developed, surface strike weapon, HCDS (Harpoon Coastal Defense System) missile. The project has a broad and growing customer base of both international and domestic customers.

  • Proficiency in coding languages (such as C++, Ada, or Python) is essential for understanding codebases and writing effective test scripts.

  • Have created comprehensive development or test plans, able to anticipate potential challenges, and adapt testing approaches as needed.

  • Have a keen eye for detail to ensure testing is thorough, results are accurate, and identify issues that arise from flawed methods.

  • Effective communication, both within the team and with stakeholders, is paramount.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define testing strategies to ensure first-time quality.

  • Develop comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test process for the software team.

  • Perform Harpoon Missile SW Testing as needed.

  • Generate test reports and metrics

  • Identifies and defines test plan risks, mitigation strategies.

  • Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity, and lessons learned.

  • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of the project or team plan.

  • Provide reports to program management the on the status of testing and test validation

  • Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software systems.

  • Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system.

  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.

  • Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities.

  • Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools, and metrics. Plans, executes, and documents software research and development projects.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes, and regulations.

  • Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.

  • Works under minimal direction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. (St. Charles, MO)

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Required Qualifications: (Required Skills/ Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years’ experience leading and supporting software development efforts

  • 5+ years’ experience leading software integration and testing

Preferred Qualifications: (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Familiarity with C++, Ada, Python, or C# programming languages

  • Familiarity with code coverage and static analysis tools for example VectorCast

  • Test Automation

  • Defense Industry Experience

  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills

  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to effectively manage conflicting needs of stakeholders

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Summary pay range for Lead level : $122,400 - $165,600
