About Saginaw Future Saginaw Future is a dynamic economic development organization with a mission of advancing the economy in Saginaw County. Established in 1992, Saginaw Future Inc. (SFI) was formed by the City of Saginaw, County of Saginaw, and Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce to create a unified vision for economic development and to diversify the economy.
Today, half of SFI's support comes from private business and industry, while the other half comes from federal, state, and local governments. Saginaw Future has nine staff members who are advised by a 27-member Board of Directors representing top leadership in the public, private, and non-profit sectors. SFI is metrics-focused and works collaboratively with partners to ensure success.

General Statement of Duties
The Economic Development Manager at Saginaw Future Inc. has primary responsibility for assisting businesses with expansion projects and attracting businesses to Saginaw County. Reporting to the President and CEO, this position implements SFI's strategic plan, key initiatives, and grant awards. The role involves close collaboration with local governments, Region 5, and MEDC partners and represents Saginaw Future Inc. in community relations, including public speaking and participation in various community committees.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish goals and implement the Corporate Watch program by meeting with investor companies, local governments, manufacturers, and other targeted businesses to determine future plans and provide follow-up assistance.
- Assist businesses expanding or locating in Saginaw County with incentive packaging, tax incentives, job training, and public financing tools.
- Support site location, infrastructure improvements, and act as a liaison with local governments.
- Assist communities and companies with tax incentive applications, procedures, policies, public hearing notices, and resolutions. Attend local government meetings to provide project information related to tax incentives.
- Prepare reports for the Board, local governments, and investors.
- Deliver presentations to organizations and groups about SFI, general economic development, and topics related to job creation and new investment.
- Administer the Saginaw County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority and support brownfield projects across local government levels.
- Manage the Great Lakes Tech Park, including marketing, farming contracts, taxes, interfacing with brokers, and reporting to the EDC.
Skills & Qualifications
- Action-oriented team player with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Five years of professional experience with demonstrated success in packaging economic and/or community development projects.
- Experience fostering community partnerships and implementing initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Community Development, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- Desired: Certification as an Economic Developer, Economic Development Finance Professional, or graduate of the Economic Development Institute.
- Proficiency in economic development tools (ongoing training will be provided).
Additional Requirements: An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities will be considered. Applicants must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
