Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The incumbent is defined as a professional who provides and supervises care to individuals and families at the Mercy Family Health Center. The registered nurse provides care based on the nursing process and within the scope of practice while demonstrating competency in patient care for neonatal, pediatric, adult & geriatric patients, and Medical Safe Haven (MSH) patients. This role requires that the incumbent be comfortable caring for patients of all age groups; provide assistance and instruction in a learning/teaching environment and comfortable administering adult/pediatric vaccines and triage of adult/pediatric/OB patients. The RN provides coordination of nursing staff activities to ensure safe, quality, efficient, and compassionate health care consistent with the Mission and Philosophy of the Sisters of Mercy. This position is responsible for data collection, observation, instruction and technical skills.
Job Duties:
Assessment: Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways.
Care of Patient: Formulates a plan of care for individual needs, including cultural/ethical/spiritual needs. Participates in the planning, implementing, and evaluating of routine transitional health care needs (i.e., treatment options, patient placement options).
Patient Education: Teaches, supervises, and counsels participants and family members regarding nursing recommendations, prescribed medications, treatment for disease management, and/or illness prevention.
Clinical/Technical Skills: Utilizes technology, procedures, protocols, standards and interventions specific to assigned units.
Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures. Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system.
Leadership: Accepts responsibility and accountability for own decisions and behaviors. Recognizes, accepts and cooperates with direction from facility leadership.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Current California RN license required
Five (5) years of experience as a RN in a Clinic Setting
Current BLS certification (must be certified through the American Heart Association)
Skills:
Must demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, make quick medical decisions, respond to medical emergencies, and handle all types of patients, including our vulnerable patient population, which includes our Medical Safe Haven (MSH) patients.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Understands the healthcare continuum and case management
Strong customer service and organizational skills
Strong sense of urgency and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment handling multiple priorities
Knowledge of Conditions of Participation and Joint Commission standards
Familiarity with an electronic practice management (EMR) system
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Project, Access, Excel, PPT) and report writers or Google Workspace
Training:
Incumbent must be able to provide the usual procedures indicated for disease prevention and restorative measures, the ability to document professional nursing services provided with a realistic plan for reaching short-term and long-range goals, be able to make decisions regarding the safety needs of participants, including adequate equipment and be able to respond to emergency medical incidences.
Must complete competency in Medication Safety, Point of Care Testing, Infection Control, Food Safety, Adult/elder abuse, Fall Prevention, Disaster/Emergency Preparedness, HIPAA, Facility Safety, and all other annual compliance education and training assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
Seven (7) years of experience as a RN in a Clinic Setting
Bachelor's degree (BSN) OR a combination of education and additional job related experience in lieu of the BSN degree
Previous preceptor experience
Current ACLS certification (must be certified through the American Heart Association)
Registered Dietitian (RD); Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE); OR Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES)

$67.57 - $82.06 /hour
