Position Overview

From ideation to execution, the Multimedia Producer is a hands-on position that requires someone with vision and understanding of how to reach targeted audiences across multiple platforms. Our ideal candidate will bring energy and focus in producing compelling digital sports coverage for audiences in Sacramento and surrounding areas. The Multimedia Producer will help execute the social media strategy for Sactown Sports. This position involves a weekday work schedule but may be needed on nights and weekends.

Note:Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.

  • This position is a hybrid role that requires the employee to regularly work at our Sacramento office location.
  • Employee will also be required to work on location at community and sporting events.
  • Position requires extreme flexibility; must be able to work evenings, weekends, odd hours, etc. to ensure that digital properties are continually updated and fresh. Flexibility to work during breaking news and other big news events required. Willing to update content remotely from home and elsewhere as needed.

What You Will Do:

Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Produce and edit multimedia content consistent with our brand for distribution on Sactown Sports website, social media platforms and YouTube
  • Able to manage all aspects of the creative process including shooting (both still and video), lighting, and post-production
  • Collaborate with web editors, show producers, management, and on-air hosts throughout the creative process
  • Ability to use analytics to track audience growth and engagement
  • Respond to breaking news promptly with compelling content to join trending conversations
  • Offer ideas, suggestions, and other concepts for the station's digital platforms that are innovative and creative.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and implement ideas into your work
  • May assist in repair and upkeep of production equipment
  • May evaluate new audio/visual equipment/programs and direct the installation and interfacing of new equipment/programs
  • Assist with station sponsored live events and in-person video assignments
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:

  • Exceptional sports knowledge, including strong knowledge of the Sacramento sports scene
  • Ability to generate highly creative, compelling sports programming for multi-platform distribution
  • Strong understanding of the current digital and social media landscape, including creating content for Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other platforms, best practices, success metrics and emerging platforms
  • Prior experience updating and maintaining a brand, eam or other professional social media account
  • Graphic design, photo, audio, and video editing skills
  • Experience with Adobe Creative / Microsoft Office
  • Experience with WordPress preferred
  • Expertise using social media platforms to curate and promote news content
  • Must have prior experience operating and maintaining professional digital video and audio equipment
  • Ability to produce content efficiently and concisely under deadline pressure and to manage stress effectively
  • Able to work independently with little supervision. Requires a track record of dependability and evidence of being a self-starter.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • College degree in digital content/development, journalism or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Two (2) years' digital production experience or equivalent preferred

Physical Demands

  • Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively.
  • Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination.
  • Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion.

Compensation Range

$19.00 - $22.50 per hour

Compensation will be determined by an evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal and external benchmarks.
