Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail – including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.

As the Material Manager for our growing Rolling Stock operation, you will collaborate with Commodity Managers, Project Procurement Managers, Order Management, Quality Management, and Engineering to analyze all suppliers to select the most suitable vendors who can deliver high-quality products at driven pricing. We will rely on your outstanding negotiation skills to build value in key metrics such as lead time, cost, and quality. In this role, you will drive performance with our suppliers, collaborate with internal teams to ensure procurement data within our MRP system is accurate, and make your mark within a team that is passionate about winning, succeeding, and making an impact.

Responsibilities:

• Ownership responsibility for assigned commodities and all associated data

• Issuing requests for quotes and conducting negotiations and supplier selection for project demand

• Request for Quotation via e-platform (e-auctions, e-bidding)

• Release of supplier purchasing agreements and ensure incorporation of contractual requirements

• Ensures updates of data in SAP to support project calculation with reliable material cost data, quotes, and Lead-time data

• Placing and handling purchasing agreements with vendors, ensuring complete PO documentation

• Updating and supervising ordered components up to First Article Inspection (FAI)

• Responsible for Project Level Commodity Budget

• Resolution to issues about pricing-related invoicing issues

• Work closely with multi-departments and/or cross-functional areas to troubleshoot and resolve problems on Purchase Orders

• Facilitates cost reductions needed in coordination with Commodity Management for the project to achieve overall improvement to materials.

• Reviews and analyzes Engineering changes with each supplier regarding cost impact

• Quarterly supplier evaluation and regular supplier performance monitoring

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

• BS/BA in a related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas

• 5+ years of work experience in procurement preferred in Rolling Stock or manufacturing environment

• Advanced knowledge of MS Excel

• Excellent knowledge of SAP

*This job is based in Sacramento, CA. Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. Details regarding our benefits can be found here: https://www.benefitsquickstart.com/siemens/index.html . The base salary range in Sacramento, CA, is $86,500 - $116,700. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
