Guidehouse Lead AWS Infrastructure Engineer in Sacramento, California

What You Will Do :

As a Lead AWS Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team that is responsible for provisioning, operating, and maintaining the AWS infrastructure required to support modern web-based application workloads. You will work closely with the development and security teams to:

  • Build scalable and reliable workload infrastructures

  • Maintain and manage AWS infrastructure services

  • Monitor and optimize cloud consumption cost and usage

  • Implement high-availability and disaster recovery strategies

What You Will Need :

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent post high school education and/or work-related experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other Information Technology related field.

  • AWS Solution Architect Associate certification, or similar certification

  • 8+ years of experience working as a system administrator supporting enterprise computing platforms and systems

  • 5+ years of experience operating and maintaining production systems on AWS

  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team of developers and testers, ensuring they are motivated, engaged, and working towards achieving team goals

  • Demonstrated ability to provide guidance, support, and coaching to team members to enhance their performance and professional growth

  • Ability to set clear expectations and objectives for the team, and monitor their progress to ensure targets are met or exceeded.

  • Demonstrated ability to foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication among team members

  • Proven ability to monitor and evaluate team performance, providing regular feedback and conducting performance reviews

  • Demonstrated ability to handle escalated issues or conflicts within the team, resolving them in a timely and professional manner

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey information and instructions

  • Proven ability to develop AWS infrastructure prototypes and use prototypes to validate technical solution strategies and communicate and explain the pros and cons of complex design alternatives

  • An in-depth understanding of the Agile and Scaled Agile practices and principles experience. Must be an experienced Agile practitioner with proven ability to plan and implement software products with agility

  • Experience and proficiency designing, configuring, and provisioning AWS infrastructure services for software products and solutions using Amazon Identity and Access Management, S3, Route53, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Internet and NAT Gateways, Web Application Firewalls, Network and Application Load Balancers, SNS, SQS, Docker, EKS/Kubernetes, AWS Step Functions, EventBridge, AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway, Elasticsearch, Caching frameworks, like Redis, Memcached, the Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) for Postgres, the MongoDB NoSQL database service, and/or other AWS services

  • Extensive experience configuring and building Docker images, deploying Docker images to EKS/ECS clusters, and implementing cross-AZ and -region replication is required, as is ability to utilize Cache services, implement Blue/Green deployment strategies, and configure VPCs, security groups, and/or Network ACLs

  • Familiarity with the AWS Serverless Application Model (SAM) and ability to design, build and deploy workload infrastructures that conform with the AWS Well Architected Framework design principals

  • Proven ability to rehydrate AWS compute resources and automate software upgrades, monitor billing and develop cost optimization strategies, backup and restore data resources, automate the provisioning of infrastructure using CloudFormation and Terraform, and effectively implement and automate tagging strategies

  • Proficiency delivering AWS infrastructure services using contemporary infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipeline tooling and ability to continuously collaborate with development, operations, and security (DevSecOps) team members to deliver secure and operationally resilient infrastructure solutions

  • Experience designing and delivering highly available AWS infrastructures and infrastructures that auto-scale and load balance resources and support disaster recovery strategies and required Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)

  • Experience implementing AWS infrastructure telemetry, logging, monitoring, and alerting capabilities required to preemptively identify, prevent, and overcome threats to workload availability and performance

  • This is a hands-on cloud infrastructure engineering position and requires the ability to proficiently and predictably configure and provision AWS cloud infrastructure services; candidates need to have proven ability to design, build, test, and deploy software product infrastructure on the AWS cloud platform

The annual salary range for this position is $130,200.00-$195,300.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
