Position Summary
The position provides technical and administrative support to make the bid and estimating process as efficient as possible. This includes document distribution, subcontractor contact, quantity takeoffs, and administrative duties.
Principle Accountabilities
Reviews bid documents to determine scope of work and required precast concrete products for large construction projects. Ensures drawings, blueprints, specifications, and any data are accurate prior to cost estimating projects through communication and engineering. Calculates and prepares material and work item quantities (take offs) based on project requirements. Prepares material pricing, labor production analysis, equipment pricing, delivery expenses, timing of product requirement, and other potential cost elements that may impact the estimate.
Produces shop orders and quotations using quoting and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) program, as well as other project related documents.
Bid/Estimate Support: Uses Configure Price Quote (CPQ)/CRM system to communicate with subcontractors and distribute electronic plans and specs. Organizes bid documents. Manages flow of bid info (addenda, Requests for Information (RFI), etc.) between Jensen Precast, designers and subcontractors. Prepares bid forms and customizes bid analysis documents. Performs quantity takeoffs. Collects and organizes subcontractor bids. Prepares post-estimate bid books. Maintains bid calendar.
Administrative Support: Maintains subcontractor prequalification database. Manages copier/plotter/scanner equipment. Prepares expense reports. Orders supplies, organizes bid lunches, sorts department mail, supports other departments as needed, and provides general administrative support.
Qualifications
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated estimating or sales experience. Other desired qualifications include but are not limited to:
Preferred Education: Some coursework after high school.
3 years of related experience, preferably in the construction industry.
Proficiency with basic computer programs.
Proficient in database administration and computer programs related to sales and customer service.
Strong communications skills to include both verbal and written communication.
Working knowledge of plans, prints, drawings, and detailed plan specifications per customer requirements.
