We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Yearlings Teacher to join our team at our Saco location. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in creating a nurturing and educational environment for our Yearling students of 12-18 months. You will be responsible for planning and implementing an age-appropriate curriculum, fostering positive relationships with children and their families, and ensuring the overall well-being and development of each child in your care.

Key Responsibilities

Classroom support:

Classroom support involves actively assisting lead teachers in the day-to-day operations of the educational environment. This role is crucial for the smooth functioning of the classroom and ensuring a positive learning atmosphere for students. The classroom support role is collaborative, requiring teamwork with lead teachers to meet the educational needs of students and maintain a well-managed, engaging, and safe educational setting. Some key responsibilities include:

  • Assist lead teachers in preparing and organizing classroom materials and resources.
  • Support the implementation of developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of students\' progress, behavior, and other relevant information.
  • Help with providing daily updates with detailed information through Procare.

Student Interaction:

Student interaction refers to the meaningful engagement and communication between teaching assistants and young learners within an educational setting. Teaching assistants facilitate a dynamic and interactive learning experience, recognizing and responding to the unique characteristics and needs of each child. Some detailed responsibilities include:

  • Engage with children in various educational activities, encouraging their cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group support to address individual learning needs.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting a sense of trust and security.
  • Encourage students to take action to improve the school environment, respect school materials/property, and respect one another.

Behavior Management:

Behavior management refers to the systematic approach employed by educators, including teaching assistants, to establish and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment. The goal is to create a setting where students can learn and thrive by promoting appropriate behavior, addressing challenges, and reinforcing positive conduct. Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Reinforce classroom rules and positive behavior strategies.
  • Assist in managing conflicts among students and promote conflict resolution skills.
  • Communicate effectively with lead teachers and parents regarding student behavior and progress.
  • Role Model by demonstrating the behavior expected from students. Model positive communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensuring a safe and secure environment is an important responsibility. This includes compliance with childcare regulations, monitoring safety measures, and maintaining records. Your role involves being First Aid/CPR certified, ensuring the classroom is safe, knowing all the state licensing rules, and responding appropriately to emergencies. Some detailed responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and ensure the well-being of students during all activities in the classroom and on the playground.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for children and ensure student/teacher ratios are maintained at all times.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized classroom environ ent.

Communication:

Communication in the context of an Early Childhood Education Teaching Assistant role involves the exchange of information, ideas, and feedback among various stakeholders to support the holistic development of young learners. Effective communication is essential for building collaborative relationships with colleagues, parents, and, most importantly, the students. It encompasses both verbal and non-verbal forms of expression and involves active listening, clarity, and empathy. Some detailed contributions include:

Engage in open and collaborative communication with lead teachers to plan and implement effective teaching strategies and activities.

Regularly communicate with parents about students\' progress, behavior, and any notable achievements. Foster a positive and supportive partnership between home and school.

Use clear and age-appropriate language when interacting with students. Encourage questions, actively listen, and provide guidance to support their understanding and expression.

Work closely with colleagues and other staff members. Contribute to a positive and cooperative team environment by sharing insights, resources, and collaborating on the overall well
