Citigroup GRCT Risk & Control Platform Engineering Head – Director in Rutherford, New Jersey

Global Functions Technology (GFT) is responsible for delivering Technology solutions to Citi's Global Functions organizations. GFT's mission is to optimize Citi's IT environment by driving standardization of the production environment, reducing complexity, optimizing management of systems, and introducing innovative technologies that provide new business capabilities, reduce the technology total cost of ownership, and create a competitive advantage for Citi.

The Global Finance & Risk Technology Group (GRCT) within GFT supports a diverse range of business partners such as Compliance Risk, Wholesale Lending Credit Risk, Retail Risk, Risk Governance, Internal Audit, Operational Risk, Model Risk and O&T Risk Control.

The position GRCT Risk & Control Platform Engineering Head will have the leadership role to take full and end to end ownership of all platform technologies and environments within GRCT. To be successful in this role, the candidate should have the technical prowess and strategic planning to ensure the safety and soundness of our technology and operations.

The successful candidate will be the champion and leader of Platforms Engineering for the whole organization, he/she will govern all the engineering standards and processes to ensure the safe and sound operation of GRCT in adherence to Citi, EO&T, GFT policies, targets, standards, also keeping management informed. This is achieved through maintaining a robust knowledge base of the group’s work and the environment in which it operates, its deliverables, stakeholders priorities and resource strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads initiatives to build and maintain non-financial risk platform technologies and environments, seeking opportunities for improvements and efficiencies

  • Drives the complete GRC lifecycle management process to design and renew platforms to meet GRC requirements

  • Manages the deployment of software and hardware solutions that are optimally standardized and system/platform updates to meet project deliverables

  • Leads holistic platform security posture, which includes proactively identifying security risks and implementing both risk mitigation plans and control functions

  • Oversees the development of troubleshooting guides and project plans to enable development programmers and customers to utilize new and existing hardware and software independently

  • Guides the resolution of chronic complex problems to prevent future system and platform performance issues

  • Closely track and monitor Risk & Control metrics and RAG status to ensure issues are managed and escalated appropriately, to ensure root cause analysis is performed, and to ensure issues are resolved timely and appropriately

  • Partner with the GFT Risk Global Controls Team, Issue Management Teams, Global Production Assurance, Information Security Teams, and GFT/EO&T Risk Control Leads to ensure consistency of standards execution and coordination

  • Ensure the GRCT leaders, application managers and program managers are informed, trained, understand, and embrace the Platforms standards for a safe and sound IT operation

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

  • Develop a granular understanding of the drivers behind control issues and facilitate standardization of Activity, Risks, Controls and Monitoring Mechanism across Risk, as applicable

Qualifications:

  • 10-12 years of relevant experience or domain knowledge in technology development, technology infrastructure, platform engineering or a combination of these

  • Six or more years of experience as an engineering leader, and Experience as a technical leader on risk and controls platforms a plus

  • Experience managing large-scale real-time distributed systems

  • Strong technical skills and a willingness to dive into technical details

  • Extensive experience developing new teams and managers. Strong track record of developing, managing, and evaluating managerial talent.

  • Experience working closely with cross functional partners in product and operations

  • Intermediate level people management experience across diverse range of compliance, controls, technology development and infrastructure teams

  • Proven Leadership, communication and influencing skills

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
