Whether in a direct-care or support role, your contribution will make a difference in the life of aTexan.The Food Service Worker I works a rotating shift at Rusk State Hospital.The Food Service Worker I does routine entry-level food service work on adesignated part-time shift in a satellite area and/or Central Kitchen under thegeneral supervision of the designated supervisor. Work involves preparing,portioning, distributing and serving food for regular and therapeutic diets;cleaning and sanitation of equipment, work areas, dishes, utensils, pots andpans. Other duties may be required that are reasonably related to the essentialor marginal functions of the position. Maintains sufficient knowledge of dutiesand related work to satisfy the requirements of the job. Handles food inaccordance with federal, state and HACCP guidelines. Follows safetyprocedures and practices for kitchen and food service work. Works under closesupervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and judgment. Mustunderstand that duties, location of work and shift patterns are subject tochange as determined to meet the needs of this facility. May work unusual orextended hours in the event of a disaster and/or operational necessity.Must understand that the duties may include exposure to blood or otherpotential infectious materials. Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.Maintains a clean and sanitary work area, following departmental sanitation guidelines.Serves meals to patients following menu guides and diet instructions.Prepares food items in the dining room for patient meals, snacks and feedings following all departmental guidelines concerning preparation and sanitation.Assist stock clerks in receiving deliveries to food service department.Performs all lifting aspects of job duties as needed.Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyand#146;s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
