SUMMARY:

Schedules, leads, and coordinates the day to day activities of the clinic nursing support staff ensuring adherence to appropriate federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines, Family Health Services (FHS) policies, and accepted nursing protocols and procedures. Coordinates services with other FHS departments and provides direct nursing services and patient care as appropriate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

State of Idaho licensed RN or LPN with at least two (2) years experience in a family practice setting and at least one (1) year of experience as a supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Advanced, specialized nursing skills as appropriate to a family practice clinic.
  • Knowledge of the specific day to day needs of patients within a family practice setting.
  • Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards.
  • Ability to provide professional guidance, instruction, and leadership to nursing and related patient care staff.
  • Proficiency working in EHR systems, preferably Nextgen.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally, and in writing.
  • Ability to coordinate and promote quality assurance initiatives within the clinic setting.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to converse in the Spanish language is preferred.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  1. Assists Medical Director, Director of Nursing and the Director of Clinic Operations in assuring appropriateness and quality of care in the following area.
    1. Patient scheduling, flow and triage
    2. Medical equipment ordering, maintenance and inspection.
    3. Provider scheduling
    4. Ordering and maintenance of medical supply inventory
    5. Ancillary patient services
    6. Clinical support staff scheduling

  3. Assists Administration with appropriateness and quality of care facility cleaning, maintenance, equipment and operations.
  4. Monitors and coordinates the daily patient care activities of the clinic schedules staff and patients to ensure full coverage of patient care needs at all times and to ensure effective patient services.
  5. Leads, guides, supervises, and trains employees performing related work.
  6. Resolves conflict that occurs within the nursing staff of the nursing staff and other clinical staff employees. Involves others as needed.
  7. Monitors employee performance. Identifies areas where performance improvement is needed. Works with the Director of Nursing and the HR Director to formally address those issues with the employee.
  8. Participates in the annual evaluation of the nursing staff.
  9. Coordinates services with other departments; maintains communication with community liaison as appropriate.
  10. Oversees clinic quality assurance activities and compliance to operational standards.
  11. Participates in program development and in development and implementation of operating policy and procedure.
  12. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  13. Remains current with standards of primary health care practices.
  14. Performs other related functions as required for clinic operations.
