Job Description SummaryAmerican Axle Manufacturing - Metal Forming division located in Royal Oak is currently seeking candidates for our Machine Operator Trainee training program.
During this 33-month program, you will be taking courses at Macomb Community College and training on the job with our skilled Hatebur Operators. The Hatebur machines are heavy horizontal presses that we use to forge steel.
Currently, we are offering a $1,000 sign-bonus. Associate will receive the sign-on bonus after 90 days of employment.
Job Description A comprehensive 33-month on-the-job and in classroomtraining at Macomb Community College involving maintenance, setup and operation of Hatebur Hot Forging machinery.
Schooltime and tuition is paid.The startinghourly wagestarts at $22.91.
Job Duties include: Quality inspection of parts. Changing of tools in the machine for quality fixes or job changeovers. Using hand tools, pneumatictools. Maintenance to machine. Reading blue prints. Operating overhead crane for heavy tool changes. Other various tasks as needed.
Required Skills and Education Prior experience in forging, metal forming processes and/or machine repair/maintenance. Experience with cold heading is valuable. High school diploma or GED required.
