Job Purpose and Impact

The R&D Lab Analyst Fats and Oils position will lead the completion of routine analyses to support R&D projects for Edible Oils and Fats. In this role you will be responsible for receiving and preparing samples for testing as well as documenting and reporting results. You will also be responsible for calibration, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintaining the equipment used and will cooperate in the implementation and optimization of new/existing analytical methods and techniques. As lab analyst you will be involved in new R&D projects and analytical methodology development.

Key Accountabilities

  • Receive, prepare and process samples for laboratory testing following pre-defined protocols.

  • Conduct complex inspections for new processes or product properties utilizing laboratory equipment and various analytical methods.

  • Understand and comply with safety regulations and other procedural compliance regulations.

  • Maintain inventory management for laboratory supplies and cleaning of lab areas and equipment.

  • Interpret and document results of all tests and internally communicates results verbally or in writing as required.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members.

  • Handle complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSc level in chemistry, life science or laboratory (HBO/HLO)

  • Minimum of four years of related work experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of HPLC’s / GC’s

  • Proficient in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MSc level in chemistry, food science or life science

  • Knowledge in statistics for analytical chemistry purposes

  • Ability to communicate effectively to various levels in the organization

  • Proficient in English and in local language

  • Ability to work efficiently individually and in a team environment

  • Experience with analytical data acquisition software ( Chromeleon)

  • Experience with LIMS

  • Prior working experience in R&D environment
