Resurgens Orthopaedics Diagnostic Scheduler in Roswell, Georgia
Responsible for coordinating patient procedures/diagnostic appointments. Streamline medical testing and related procedures, increasing patient satisfaction and utilizing staff efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Triages patient’s needs for timeliness of appointments based upon criteria provided by physician
Gathers insurance information and patient personal data to coordinate procedures and streamline medical testing and related procedures
Review physician requested tests to evaluate when patient can be scheduled with various departments (if any) reducing the patient’s wait time and informing personnel of the comprehensive testing
Verify insurance coverage for patients, and get prior authorizations
Provide information to patient regarding any specific instructions before testing, such as fasting on the night before testing, taking a specific medication, or temporarily stopping medications to ensure they don’t interfere with results
Schedule procedures in EMR and notify surgery center
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent is required
Six - twelve months of appointment scheduling experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
Basic understanding of medical terminology and the types of procedures offered at a medical facility such as EMGs, Injections, etc.
Excellent phone skills, ability to communicate with patients and medical personnel effectively and efficiently
Excellent Customer Service Skills
Excellent time management skills
Intermediate knowledge of computer systems
Knowledgeable of medical privacy laws, as confidential information will be included in scheduling documentation.
Understanding of medical terminology and the types of procedures offered at a medical facility such as EMG, and injections
Strong Organizational Skills with great Attention to Detail
Problem Solving Skills required
Demonstrated Conflict Management Skills required
While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and to talk and hear. Employee will be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Employee must occasionally lift, push and/or move up to 20 pounds. Employee may be required to operate various types of orthopaedic equipment necessitating manual dexterity. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The work environment is typical of a physician practice. While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to risk of infectious diseases when interacting with patients and/or family members. The employee may be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
